Nicodemus just missed out on another medal for Malaysia


Powerlifter Nicodemus Manggoi Moses finished fourth in the men's heavyweight category (over 72kg)

PETALING JAYA: Powerlifter Nicodemus Manggoi Moses missed out on a medal for Malaysia after finishing fourth in the men's heavyweight category (over 72kg) on Friday evening. 

Nicodemus lifted 200kg to collect 120.3 points in the final at the SEC Armadillo.

Nigerian athlete Riluwan Idris collected 132.8 points with a best lift of 208kg to secure the gold while England's Matthew Harding won silver after lifting 199kg to collect 131.0 points.

Bronze went to India's Jhandu Kumar, who recorded a best lift of 190kg to collect 130.9 points.

Bryan Junency Gustin, the elder brother of Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, failed to record any valid lifts after all three of his attempts at 196kg, 196kg and 201kg were not confirmed.

Bonnie earlier failed to defend his title in the men's lightweight category (below 72kg) when he had to settle for a bronze.
