Organ donation still needs human-centred advocacy

WE refer to the report “Kidneys top transplant wish list” (The Star, July 20; https://tinyurl.com/52jubuv2). In a country where over 10,000 patients are waiting for a second chance at life, more efforts should be made to increase organ pledgers.

Before 2020, organ donation advocacy had a visible and consistent presence at the community level. Public campaigns, roadshows, engagement with various non-governmental organisations and educational events were regularly conducted, driven in part by the Organ Donation Public Awareness Action Committee (PAAC) in which both of us were actively involved.
