SOCIAL media is abuzz with a video showing a multi-vehicle accident at a busy intersection.

The footage captures a vehicle losing control and crashing into others.

Was this accident in Bukit Setongkol in Kuantan, Pahang really caused by a drowsy driver?

Verdict:

An elderly man is believed to have been drowsy when the multipurpose vehicle (MPV) he was driving collided with other vehicles at the Bukit Setongkol traffic light intersection on Thursday (Feb 6).

The incident went viral on social media through a 38-second dashcam recording.

Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, stated that three vehicles were involved in the incident at approximately 12.20pm.

Fortunately, all individuals involved were safe and did not sustain any injuries.

Initial investigations revealed that the 72-year-old man was heading towards Bukit Setongkol.

Upon reaching the location, he suddenly lost control, believed to be due to drowsiness, and crashed into a car driven by a 19-year-old man.

The impact caused the driver to reverse and collide with the front of a third car driven by a 32-year-old man.
