DRIVING in Kuala Lumpur requires nerves of steel at the best of times, but most road users at least have the courtesy to face the same direction as everyone else.

A video showing a car travelling against the flow of traffic along one of KL's busiest roads has gone viral, leaving viewers stunned at the brazenness of it all.

A car was caught on video driving against the flow of traffic along Jalan Klang Lama in Kuala Lumpur at around 9.44am on Sunday (April 5), with footage of the incident going viral on social media.

Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said authorities were alerted to the viral video at 11.38am on the same day.

He said initial investigations found the vehicle had travelled the wrong way along Jalan Klang Lama from the Jalan Klang Lama/Jalan Sepadu intersection to the Jalan Klang Lama/Jalan Kuchai Lama intersection, covering an estimated distance of about 500 metres.

No police report had been lodged over the incident at the time of the statement, he added.

Efforts to locate the driver and vehicle involved are ongoing, with action initiated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
