STEALING cables in broad daylight is brazen enough, but doing it while being filmed takes a special kind of audacity.

A viral TikTok video has put Ipoh police on the trail of suspected thieves who allegedly used vehicles to rip cables from a residential area in Taman Pakatan Jaya.

But were these bold criminals actually caught on camera?

Verdict:

TRUE

Ipoh police called on the public for assistance following a suspected cable theft at Jalan Pakatan Jaya, Taman Pakatan Jaya in Ipoh, after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Ipoh police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police came across the video on TikTok at about 11am on Saturday (March 28).

"The suspects are believed to have used a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to pull the cables at the scene," said ACP Muhammad Najib.

"Police have opened an investigation paper and the case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code," said ACP Muhammad Najib.

He also advised the public not to speculate on the case as it could affect investigations.
