QuickCheck: Is there a special EPF withdrawal scheme in 2024?

It's tough out there. The post-pandemic cost of living crisis is making people walk around with tighter belts and emptier pockets. At times like this, any form of additional cash or income would certainly go a long way in easing the financial burdens many are enduring right now.

That is why a supposed announcement that a fresh round of special Employees Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawals is being allowed this year went viral recently. This has got many Malaysians excited. However, is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

You know what they say about things that sound too good to be true. The EPF, in a statement, urged Malaysians to be careful and not to be fooled with false information.

EPF also called Malaysians to be wary of any information and verify it through legitimate channels.

Malaysians were also encouraged to get information on such withdrawals from the EPF website at https://www.kwsp.gov.my/.
