QuickCheck: Is Tabung Haji running nationwide recruitment through walk-in interviews?

CLAIMS of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) advertising job vacancies are making rounds on social media platforms recently.

The adverts mentioned that the board is conducting a nationwide recruitment, with some offering walk-in interviews.

Interested applicants are told to reach them in numerous ways, such as through personal numbers and scanning QR codes.

VERDICT:

FALSE

Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has denied putting up several job vacancy adverts as seen on social media, which include offers purportedly involving nationwide recruitment and walk-in interviews.

In a post on Threads, it said various fake adverts have been using the agency’s name and logo to deceive the public.

The board said it is not offering any job opportunities through personal phone numbers, QR codes or other methods shown in the adverts.

"We detected various fake job vacancy adverts circulating on social media. These are all fake.

"Please refer to the official LinkedIn channel for job opportunities and the website for any verification,” it said.

TH advised the public not to share any personal information with unknown third parties to avoid falling victim to scams.

At the same time, the board said it would continue to monitor the spread of such fake content and take appropriate action against any accounts found to have uploaded or shared false adverts using TH's name.

Recently, several posters advertising vacancies using the TH logo had gone viral on social media.

The modus operandi involves individuals uploading the posters and asking the public to apply through links or QR codes included in the posts.

When users click on the links, they are taken to a website where they are required to enter their phone number and Telegram app password.
