A VIRAL post is making the rounds of social media claiming that all Malaysians aged 18 andf above will receive a one-off RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) payment in conjunction with National Day.

Is there any truth to this claim?

In a social media post Wednesday (Aug 5), the Finance Ministry denied the viral claim, saying that it was false, Bernama reported.

The ministry also advised the public not to believe or share the viral social media post.

"The Ministry wishes to emphasise that no official announcement has been made regarding the Sara payment as claimed in the poster.

"The public is advised to always obtain verified information through the Finance Ministry's official channels before sharing it, to avoid the spread of false information that could mislead the public," the ministry said in its social media post. - Bernama
