Verdict:

TRUE
Malayan tiger footprints were found on a farm near Jalan Air Betang-Jalan Kampung Air Panas in Gerik on Oct 14, the Perak Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has confirmed.
Its director Dr Pazil Abdul Patah said the footprints were found by the department's Gerik district personnel during an inspection of the area.
"Initial field investigations indicate that the report is credible, as Malayan tiger footprints were indeed found. The orchard is estimated to be about two kilometres from the Bintang Hijau Forest Reserve," said Dr Pazil in a statement to Bernama.
He said several proactive measures were being implemented and would continue to be taken to safeguard residents against possible tiger attacks.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid going out alone in the early morning, late evening or at night, and keep their livestock in secure enclosures, he added.
"Our team is conducting regular inspections and monitoring in the area where the footprints were found and its surroundings, while also gathering information from residents and farmers.
"The public is also advised not to provoke, approach or attempt to track the animal. Any new sightings should be reported immediately to the department through its official complaint channels," said Dr Pazil.
