QuickCheck: Did a car crash into a convenience store in Klang?


Parking mishaps can turn a quick errand into a very costly stop. A photo showing a car that had crashed into a shop has gone viral. Did this incident happen in Klang as claimed?

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said the accident happened at about 3.30pm on Tuesday (Aug 4) when the woman parked her car in front of the shop to buy items.

He said she was injured after her parked car crashed into a shop in Leboh Bangau, Taman Berkeley in Klang, reported Sinar Harian.

ACP Ramsay Embol said that after making her purchase, the woman returned to her car and accidentally engaged the forward gear before pressing the accelerator.

"The vehicle crashed into a shop selling kuih and hit a local woman in her early 30s who was working inside the premises," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 5).

He said the driver suffered head injuries, while the shop assistant suffered minor injuries, and both were taken to hospital.

ACP Ramsay said anyone with information on the accident could come forward to assist investigations.

He said they could contact North Klang district police headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division investigating officer Insp Kishen Raj at 011-26249291.

The case was investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
