Melaka polls: Pakatan to maintain 21-seat contest, says Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan is maintaining its decision to contest 21 seats in the Melaka state election for now, with any changes subject to a final decision by the coalition's top leadership.

Pakatan communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the coalition will concentrate on the seats that have already been announced.

"We have announced 21 seats. If there are any changes, we leave it to the leadership to announce," he told reporters at a Deepavali contribution event for the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency on Wednesday (Oct 28) night.

Fahmi said Pakatan would evaluate its participation in the state polls based on its own capacity and capabilities, taking into account strategic and tactical considerations.

"We know several other parties will announce their candidates tomorrow. That is their prerogative, but our considerations are grounded in Pakatan Harapan's own capabilities," he added.

It was previously reported that Pakatan was poised to contest three additional seats in the election, with PKR allocated one more seat and Amanah two.

If finalised, the move would see the coalition contest 24 of the 28 state seats in Melaka. – Bernama
