KUANTAN: A foreign national has been arrested for allegedly injuring an auxiliary police officer and damaging casino equipment at the Sky Casino in Genting Highlands, Bentong, on Tuesday (Oct 27).
Acting Bentong OCPD Deputy Supt Azmi Mahmod said preliminary investigations revealed that the 34-year-old man, believed to have been drunk, had allegedly behaved aggressively towards members of the public before entering the casino.
The suspect then allegedly damaged the screens of three gambling machines by repeatedly banging his head and two chairs against them, resulting in estimated losses of RM85,000.
"The suspect sustained a forehead injury that required six stitches,” DSP Azmi said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 28).
The man also allegedly punched a 32-year-old auxiliary police officer in the mouth, breaking two of his teeth.
DSP Azmi said the officer had since received treatment at Bentong Hospital.
Initial checks revealed that the suspect had no previous criminal record and had tested negative for drugs.
The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 427 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and committing mischief resulting in property damage, respectively. – Bernama
