PETALING JAYA: MCA will field its incumbents Datuk Lim Ban Hong and Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem in Klebang and Machap Jaya, respectively, in the Melaka state election.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (Oct 28), the party said MCA vice-president Datuk Wira Lim Ban Hong will defend Klebang, while central committee member Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem is seeking re-election in Machap Jaya.
Both will contest under the Barisan Nasional banner.
MCA said it would work with Barisan to seek a fresh mandate from voters, pledging to pursue political stability, economic growth and social harmony in the state.
“Together, we will strive to build a more prosperous, progressive and inclusive Melaka,” it said.
The party also highlighted Melaka’s performance under the Barisan-led state administration over the past five years, claiming that the state’s gross domestic product exceeded RM50bil for the first time in 2025.
It said Melaka recorded RM14.6bil in investments, received more than 15 million visitors and allocated RM168mil for assistance programmes last year.
Lim and Ngwe are MCA’s two candidates among the 21 seats being contested by Barisan in the Nov 14 state election.
MCA contested seven seats in the 2021 Melaka election, winning Klebang and Machap Jaya.
Nomination day is on Saturday (Oct 31), while early voting is set for Nov 10.
