PETALING JAYA: The proposed integrated walkway from the Gombak East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) station to Prasarana's Gombak LRT station will materialise by March 2027, says ECRL project owner, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL).
In a statement Friday (Oct 23) morning following a story in The Star, MRL said it had taken into account the need for the walkway in its planning.
"We acknowledge concerns raised by the public, especially on passenger flow between our station, the (Gombak) LRT station, and the Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (TBG).
"We will construct a covered walkway to the LRT station that also includes connectivity to TBG," it added.
As an interim measure, MRL will prepare a temporary pedestrian path to enable passengers to move between the two train stations when ECRL services commence in December 2026, it added.
"This temporary walkway takes into account passenger safety and comfort, including for those with luggage.
"In addition to this, MRL is having discussions with Prasarana over the possibility of having a shuttle bus service between the two stations as an additional amenity, especially for those with luggage.
"We would like to give our assurance that the preparation of this temporary pedestrian facility is currently in progress, while awaiting the permanent facility to be built in stages," it added.
