ThERE is a proposal to develop Port Klang as an integrated multimodal transport hub under Klang Royal City Local Plan 2035 (Amendment 1).
Selangor public health and environment committee chairman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said multimodal transport hubs were proposed for the Port Klang, Pulau Indah, Klang, Klang Sentral and Johan Setia terminals.
She was responding to a question from Azmizam Zaman Huri (PH-Pelabuhan Klang) on improving connectivity between the bus terminal, commuter station, jetty and business areas.
“Among the improvements being implemented are upgrading pedestrian walkways and lighting around the transport terminal hub and surrounding business areas.
“Upgrading works for the pedestrian walkway from the Persiaran Raja Muda Musa junction to the Pulau Ketam passenger ferry jetty have been completed.
“Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) is proposing to upgrade pedestrian walkways, lighting and landscaping to rejuvenate business areas of Port Klang town.”
She was replying on behalf of state investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han at the state assembly sitting at Bangunan Dewan Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam yesterday.
Jamaliah added that MBDK had also prepared the Port Klang Urban Redevelopment Concept Plan, which focused on services, tourism, commercial and heritage.
It also includes redevelopment of the row of shops along Jalan Kem.
