KOTA KINABALU: A car lost control and crashed into several vehicles in Tawau, further injuring a fallen motorcyclist and the man who had stopped to help him.
Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the motorcyclist reportedly lost control and fell onto the road, prompting the man driving a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle to stop to help him in the 7.20pm accident on Wednesday (Oct 22).
"However, another car coming from Balung towards Tawau is believed to have lost control before crashing into several vehicles at the location, including the four-wheel drive vehicle that had stopped and the man who was helping the motorcyclist," he said in a statement on Friday.
ACP Rosdi said the crash resulted in the 30-year-old 4WD driver suffering a fractured right hand, while the 52-year-old motorcyclist sustained bruises to his hand, left leg and face.
“The driver of the car that caused the second collision complained of chest pain,” he said.
“All three injured victims were sent to Tawau Hospital for further treatment,” he said the two other drivers involved in the accident escaped unhurt.
The case is being investigated under Section 44(1A)(b) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
He urged witnesses to come forward to assist investigations and they could contact Traffic Investigation Officer Sgt Mohd Hanafiah Mat Sari at 019-886 7715.
