DRIVEN by curiosity, a 28-year-old man from China inserted a charging cable into his penis, only for it to become stuck, China Press reported.

He was rushed to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove the 25cm-long cable.

It was reported that the man experienced severe lower abdominal pain, bleeding and was unable to urinate after inserting the entire cable into his urethra.

After enduring the painful symptoms for 12 hours, he sought treatment at the emergency department of Longhua District People’s Hospital in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

An X-ray revealed that the cable had coiled and knotted inside his bladder.

Due to the delay in seeking treatment, the patient developed a severe urethral infection and haemorrhage.

The man has since made a full recovery.

> The daily also reported that a Chinese couple became popular after hosting their wedding reception at a hotpot restaurant in Weinan, Shaanxi province.

They hosted more than 300 family members and friends at a cost of 24,000 yuan (RM14,624).

Far from being a low-key affair, the celebration featured custom floral arrangements by the staff and a traditional Sichuan opera face-changing performance.

The reception has since taken social media by storm and has been hailed as a prime example of the growing anti-tradition wedding trend among the younger generation, who are increasingly prioritising personalisation and cost-effectiveness.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a Taiwanese man was arrested for attempting to smuggle 248 live beetles into a Chinese city by ferry.

Officers intercepted the 29-year-old suspect at Shuitou Port in Xiamen after discovering the insects during a routine X-ray screening of his hand luggage.

An initial digital identification of the seized beetles confirmed that they do not belong to any protected or endangered species.

Security measures across the ferry network have been significantly tightened following a high-profile breach on June 15, when a passenger smuggled more than 300 live lizards out of the country via the same route.
