Pejuang calls for stronger Malay political unity after formally accepted into PN

PETALING JAYA: Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) has welcomed Perikatan Nasional's decision to accept it as a component party, describing the move as a step towards strengthening Malay political unity and building a more credible leadership for the country.

Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the country was facing economic, social, security and political challenges, making it important to strengthen the unity of the ummah and develop a political force capable of offering leadership trusted by the people.

He said Pejuang's entry into the coalition was in line with the party's long-held stance that the interests of religion, race and the nation should take precedence over party and individual interests.

"Differences in views should not become an obstacle to forming a larger front for the future of the country," he said in the statement on Tuesday (June 23).

Mukhriz said Pejuang would continue to uphold the principles of integrity, justice and good governance, while remaining committed to championing the welfare and wellbeing of the rakyat.

He described the development as more than just the inclusion of another party into a political coalition, saying it marked the beginning of a broader effort to unite political forces in addressing national challenges.

Mukhriz also expressed hope that the move would serve as a starting point for greater efforts to unite the ummah and build a more stable, secure and prosperous Malaysia.

Perikatan Nasional had earlier agreed to accept Pejuang as one of its component parties.
