Dr Wee urges fresh mandate to finish Maju Johor 2030

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johoreans should give Barisan Nasional a fresh mandate in the upcoming state election to allow the state government to complete its Maju Johor 2030 agenda, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).

The MCA president said Johor has achieved remarkable growth under the leadership of caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, describing him as a dynamic leader who has delivered tangible results for the state.

Over the past four years, Johor attracted RM272bil in foreign direct investments, including RM110bil last year alone, he said.

Dr Wee noted that while Malaysia recorded gross domestic product growth of 5.1% and 5.2% over the past two years, Johor achieved 6.4% growth in both years.

“This is no easy feat. It is the result of Onn Hafiz’s leadership as a young, dynamic and capable leader who works tirelessly for the people,” he said at the launch of Barisan’s machinery for the Johor state election at EduCity Stadium here yesterday.

He said the Maju Johor 2030 agenda, introduced in 2022, had reached its halfway point and should be allowed to continue.

“We hope the people will give Johor Barisan their support so we can complete the second half of the agenda,” he said, likening it to reaching half-time in football terms.

Dr Wee said the state government had also taken proactive steps to address issues that traditionally fall under federal jurisdiction, including immigration clearance at the Johor Causeway.

He added that the administration had demonstrated inclusive governance by providing assistance to various groups, including housewives, senior citizens and farmers, regardless of race.

“I am confident the rakyat will give their mandate to Onn Hafiz, a leader with strategic planning and a willingness to listen to the people,” he said.
