Cops to record Tony Pua’s statement soon


PETALING JAYA: The police are expected to record Tony Pua’s statement soon over his recent comments on the Rukun Negara.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investi­gation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said an investigation was started after 28 police reports were lodged against the former MP.

“Investigations are being conducted under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“We have started our investi­gations following the lodging of reports across the country,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Comm Kumar added it is possible that Pua would be called in for statements soon.

“Yes, we will call all involved to assist in our investigations,” he said.

Pua is being probed for his ­previous Facebook post touching on royalty.
