Police hunt two brothers over theft of cash box from budget rice seller


IPOH: Police are tracking down two brothers who fled with a cash box and a mobile phone belonging to a female ‘nasi bajet’ (budget rice) seller at her roadside stall on Jalan Lebuh Meru Raya here recently.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the first individual identified is Mohd Faiz Naharoddin, 36, also known as ‘Paeh’.

"He is estimated to be about 180 centimetres tall, has a medium complexion and a slim build, with his last known address at Halaman Meru Damai, Ipoh.

"The second individual is his younger brother, Mohamad Arif Naharoddin, 25, also known as ‘Aboy’, who shares the same last known address in Halaman Meru Damai,” he said in a statement on Saturday (May 23) night.

Mohamad Arif is about 175 centimetres tall, and also has a medium complexion and slim build.

Members of the public with information on the two brothers are urged to contact investigating officer Sgt Azrul at 017-5823467 or visit the nearest police station to assist investigations.

In the incident on Thursday (May 21), the 21-year-old victim was conducting business and packing food when she was approached by two men on a silver Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle, believed to have been posing as customers.

The suspects allegedly stole a cash box containing money and the victim’s iPhone 13 before fleeing towards the Meru Raya roundabout. – Bernama
