IPOH: The two schoolgirls who were killed in an accident near Taman Perpaduan Ria in Tambun here on Friday (Oct 2) morning were sisters.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the victims, aged 19 and nine, were headed towards Bercham on a motorcycle before being hit by a car that was turning out from a junction onto Jalan Perpaduan.
"The two victims died on the spot.
"The victims' 12-year-old sister, who was also riding pillion, suffered injuries and was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement on Friday.
It has been reported earlier on Friday that the incident occurred at about 7.20am.

The injured victim was semi-conscious and had a cervical collar put on her neck before being sent to the hospital.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the police for further action.
ACP Muhammad Najib said the driver of the car, also a 19-year-old girl, was unharmed.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
When asked whether the victims had worn helmets, ACP Muhammad Najib said it was being investigated.
"Those with information about the case are to come forward to the police to assist investigations.
"We advise all road users to always be careful and to observe traffic laws, to ensure their own safety and to prevent life-threatening accidents," he said.
