59 reports lodged against Tony Pua so far, says Selangor police chief

SHAH ALAM: Some 59 police reports have been lodged nationwide against Tony Pua so far following his comments on the Rukun Negara and the constitutional monarchy system, says Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar.

The Selangor police chief, at a press conference at the contingent headquarters here Thursday (May 21), said that the number of reports received was as of Thursday morning.

“Investigations are being conducted by Selangor police. Reports were lodged nationwide against his comments.

“He will be called in to give statements as well,” he said.

Pua is being probed after he wrote on Facebook recently that Malaysia practises a constitutional monarchy system.

The post came after a statement by Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, where he told Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki and former Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu to visit Dataran Selangor and understand the principles of the Rukun Negara displayed on the Monument Plaque there.

“Specifically directed to Seri Kembangan representative YB Wong Siew Ki from DAP and former Selangor DAP exco Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew, I suggest that they come once a week to Dataran Selangor to understand and appreciate the meaning of the Rukun Negara, so that they become citizens who know how to respect the sovereignty of the Royal Institution and uphold courtesy and decency,” the Sultan said in a Facebook statement on May 19.
