KUALA LUMPUR: Ministers have manifested the spirit of patriotism across their respective social media platforms in conjunction with the National Day celebration, calling on all Malaysians to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and love for the country.
Through posts uploaded on Facebook, X and Instagram, the members of the Cabinet reminded that the independence enjoyed today is the result of the hard work and sacrifices of past generations that must be defended for the nation's future.
Among the highlights was an eight-minute video featuring prominent veteran actor Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, who played the role of a grandfather relaxing with his grandchild while conveying messages about sacrifice, unity and responsibility toward the country.
The emotional clip, shared on the Facebook account of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, also incorporated his own special address.
"Malaysia belongs to all of us. Guard its sovereignty, respect its differences and strengthen the spirit of togetherness so that our country continues to shine on the world stage. Come, let us kindle the sense of love, responsibility and loyalty to the homeland. Wave the Jalur Gemilang with great pride," he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, meanwhile, called on all citizens to preserve unity and strengthen the country, while describing the announcements made during the 2026 National Day Perdana Address as proof of the government's commitment to constantly listening to the pulse of society.
He said the unity government wouyld continue to ensure that every policy, allocation and decision made is anchored on the genuine needs of the people so that the benefits of development can be felt thoroughly across all layers of society.
Meanwhile, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said independence must be filled with the aspiration of building a strong nation-state to guarantee a harmonious future for Malaysia.
"Nation-building does not mean we have to forget our respective languages, cultures, religions, or origins. We do not need to become identical to become one. Instead, we must build a greater shared identity above all differences – the identity as Malaysians.
"The responsibility of our generation is to free the country from prejudice, hatred and division, because the strength of a nation does not lie solely in its economy, its buildings, or its standing in the world. The true strength of a country lies in the trust among its people," he said.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the effort to defend national sovereignty requires the involvement and resilience of all citizens, rather than relying solely on military strength.
Through the Total Defence (Hanruh) approach, he said every individual plays a role in maintaining public order without needing to take up arms.
"Despite differences in race, religion and background, we share the same homeland and future. This unity is among the greatest strengths in defending the country's peace and security," he said.
He also expressed appreciation to all Armed Forces personnel who continue to serve in defending the nation's sovereignty and peace.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the peace and security enjoyed by the country today form the primary foundation for political stability and economic prosperity for all Malaysians.
He said the theme of the 69th National Day, "Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati" reminds all parties that national well-being stems from continuously preserved harmony.
"In reality, peace is not solely the government's responsibility. Every individual citizen must play their part. Respect the law, appreciate differences in views among us and preserve unity.
"When national security is safeguarded, political stability will follow, economic prosperity will be enjoyed, the economic pie will grow larger and every citizen will be able to enjoy their share," he said.
Meanwhile, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan called on Malaysians to fill independence by strengthening unity and ensuring that national progress can be felt by every layer of society.
He said diversity is the strength that unites the country into a single large Malaysian family and the spirit of togetherness, hard work and love for the homeland will lead Malaysia toward a more glorious future.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali described the independence enjoyed today as a major trust that demands the current generation to defend peace and preserve harmony across diverse backgrounds.
He urged the people to renew their resolve in conjunction with the National Day and Sabah Day 2026 celebrations to continue playing their respective parts in ensuring that the spillover of national progress is felt by the entire society. – Bernama
