PAS to meet before Aidiladha to deliberate continued Bersatu cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS will hold a meeting in the near future to decide on its position regarding its relationship with Bersatu, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

According to Sinar Harian, the PAS secretary-general said the party leadership would first reach an internal decision before referring the matter to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) council.

“We will meet soon and then make a decision. This will be done within a day or two, before Hari Raya Aidiladha.

“Whether we (PAS) will meet amongst ourselves first and or with Bersatu, we will see. Perhaps a meeting within PAS first,” he said when met at Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia’s 58th Anniversary Convention here on Saturday (May 23).

On Friday (May 22), PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said that the party would review its cooperation with Bersatu following several actions seen as violating the spirit of camaraderie among PN component parties.

Abdul Hadi, who is also Marang MP, said this decision came after a series of moves by the party led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which were deemed displeasing.

Following this, PAS instructed its leaders and members not to issue any statements or comments on current developments involving other parties or PAS without its central leadership's express permission.
