6-inch 'Rambo' knife believed to have been used to stab single mother found in rice fields


ALOR SETAR: Police have successfully recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the incident in which a woman was stabbed in the neck while in a car in front of a restaurant on Jalan Titi Gajah, Kepala Batas, near here, on Sunday night (May 17).

Kedah Police Chief, Datuk Adzli Abu Shah, said the weapon, a “Rambo”-type knife about six inches long, was found on Monday (May 18) after the suspect directed police to it, reported Sinar Harian.

According to him, the knife was found approximately 200 meters from the scene of the incident, where it was thrown in a rice field.

He said this during a press conference at the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters here on Wednesday (May 20).

In a related development, he informed that the victim, who is also a single mother, has completed surgery and is now in stable condition.

"The victim did suffer trauma from the injury. He is still weak but stable," he said.

Previously, the media reported that police were tracking down the weapon believed to have been used in the incident where a woman was stabbed in the neck on Sunday night.

Police later managed to arrest the 32-year-old suspect about four hours after the incident after the man walked 6.2 km before being arrested near a mosque in Taman Uda at 1.50am on Monday.

The operation to track down the suspect was also assisted by the police K9 Unit.

The suspect is now being remanded for seven days, starting Monday, to assist in investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous bodily harm using a weapon.
