Man likely stabbed woman in neck because he was jilted, say Kedah cops


ALOR SETAR: The man who allegedly stabbing a woman in the neck here last night was likely did it as he was jilted, say police.

Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said they were still conducting investigations to determine the main motive behind the incident involving the 32-year-old suspect and the 35-year-old victim.

"Police received a call regarding the incident at 9.24pm on Sunday (May 17) informing of a fight in front of a restaurant. The female victim sustained injuries to the neck and was found lying inside the car covered in blood.

"The suspect fled after the incident and was arrested in the vicinity of a place of worship in Taman Uda, about 6km from the scene," he told a press conference at the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters here on Monday (May 18).

He said the victim, a single mother and the suspect, a divorcee, had known each other for more than a year and both were working in real estate.

"The victim's quick action by activating the car horn attracted the attention of the public and initial treatment was given to stop the bleeding," he said.

The victim is currently in stable condition.

He said the suspect had a criminal record for hurting another girlfriend several years ago. – Bernama
