Cops on the hunt for man who stabbed woman in the neck in Kota Setar

ALOR SETAR: A woman sustained serious neck injuries after allegedly being stabbed by a man in front of a restaurant along Jalan Titi Gajah near here last night.

Kota Setar district police chief ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali said the 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed on the right side of her neck by a 32-year-old suspect while inside her Mazda car in the 9.19pm incident.

"The victim was in the driver’s seat and the suspect in the front passenger seat when the incident occurred. The suspect fled shortly after the attack and efforts are underway to track him down.

"The victim was taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for further treatment and is reported to be in stable condition,” he said at a press conference here on Sunday (May 17) night.

Syed Basri said the victim and suspect were believed to know each other as both worked as real estate agents and were in the same vehicle during the incident.

"Police are still probing the motive behind the incident and the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

"We are also tracing the weapon used by the suspect in the stabbing,” he said, while urging the suspect to surrender and calling on members of the public with information on his whereabouts to assist investigations. - Bernama
