Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast for nine states, KL and Putrajaya until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has warned that thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds will affect nine states and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan until 5pm on Wednesday (May 6).

MetMalaysia, in a statement, said the warning covers the states of Kedah (Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak) and Penang.

Similar weather conditions are expected in Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang), Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau), Johor (Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), as well as Melaka.

Over in Sarawak, the warning has been issued for Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian (Serian), Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu and Dalat), Kapit (Song and Bukit Mabong), Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

In Sabah, it involves the Interior (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Tawau and Kudat. - Bernama
