KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians will be able to watch all 2026 Fifa World Cup matches on Unifi TV and RTM, says Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
The Communications Minister said Unifi TV and RTM had secured broadcasting rights for the 2026 World Cup hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Fahmi said he was not involved in negotiations to secure broadcasting rights from FIFA but said that the government allocated a total of RM24mil for this.
"The 2026 World Cup will be also aired on various platforms, including free-to-air TV via MyTV, RTMKlik and Unifi TV to ensure access for Malaysians across the country.
"All 104 matches will be aired lived on Unifi TV while RTM will air the majority of matches, either live or delayed," said Fahmi during his weekly press conference on Wednesday (May 6).
Fahmi also said there were several main sponsors who will be revealed soon.
This will be the first World Cup hosted by three nations, matches will take place from June 11 to July 19 across 11 cities in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada.
