Thunderstorms, heavy rain to hit 10 states until 7pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit 10 states until 7pm Friday (April 24), according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement issued at 4pm Friday, MetMalaysia said the warning covers the entire states of Melaka and Johor. In Kedah, the affected areas are Kulim and Bandar Baharu.

The warning also applies to Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan) and Perak (Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim).

Other states involved are Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin), Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang), and Negri Sembilan (Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin).

Similar conditions are also forecast in Sarawak, involving Sri Aman and Sibu (Sibu and Selangau). In Sabah, the affected areas are expected to be the Interior (Nabawan) and Sandakan (Tongod, Kinabatangan and Sandakan). - Bernama
