Jealous man believed to have stabbed ex-wife to death

KUALA LUMPUR: A jealous eye led to the death of a Myanmar woman after her ex-husband allegedly stabbed her to death.

In a statement on Friday (April 24), Kuala Lumpur OCPD Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said that the murder occurred at a condominium in Setapak on April 23.

"The police received information about the incident through a call from a member of the public, saying that a Myanmar woman was found unconscious at the scene, after she was believed to have been stabbed by a man.

"Acting on the information, a police team was dispatched to the location and a Myanmar man was arrested on the same day. Initial investigations found that the suspect is the victim’s ex-husband,” he said.

Police also seized a weapon believed to have been used in the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, with the motive believed to have been jealousy.

Comm Fadil said the suspect has been remanded for seven days until April 30.

"A post-mortem conducted at the Forensic Department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur on April 24 confirmed that the cause of death was due to a stab wound to the chest,” he added.
