Man escapes unhurt after tree crushes truck

PETALING JAYA: A driver escaped shaken but unscathed when a falling tree crushed his pickup truck on Jalan Selayang-Kepong towards the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) on Monday (April 20).

Fire and Rescue Department personnel from the Rawang station were deployed to the site, some 21km away, in response to the emergency call at 5.10pm.

“Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that a tree had fallen onto a vehicle. One victim was involved but was found to be safe. The incident did not involve any structural damage,” the department’s Selangor operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said in a statement.

He added that work to remove the fallen tree was still ongoing at the time of reporting.

A total of nine personnel, along with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) unit and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, were deployed to the scene.
