Cops nab bus driver linked to viral video for dangerous driving

ALOR GAJAH: A 53-year-old express bus driver linked to a viral video showing him driving in a dangerous manner while ferrying passengers has been arrested.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the man was detained when he turned up to give his statement at the district police headquarters at about 12pm on Monday (Apr 20).

"A remand application will be made at the Alor Gajah magistrate's court on Tuesday (Apr 21) to facilitate investigations under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code," he said when contacted on Monday (Apr 20).

The media on Apr 16 reported that police began tracking down the driver after a one-minute-20-second video of the incident went viral on the same day.

The footage showed him leaning back in his seat and steering the moving vehicle with only one hand while travelling at night along the North-South Expressway.
