UTAR pledges to carry on Dr Ling’s legacy of education for the underprivileged

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) has pledged to continue the legacy of its late chancellor, Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, by ensuring that children from underprivileged families continue to have access to higher education.

UTAR said Dr Ling’s vision and commitment had opened the doors of higher education to countless Malaysian youths, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds.

“May we honour him by continuing the path he so passionately built. His legacy lives on through the campuses he helped build and the graduates whose lives have been transformed through education,” the university said in a statement.

At Dr Ling’s wake on Wednesday (April 8), UTAR pro-chancellor Tan Sri Wong See Wah, UTAR Education Foundation Board of Trustees chairman Tan Sri Dr Sak Cheng Lum, UTAR Council chairman Tan Sri Dr Ting Chew Peh, council members, UTAR president Ir Prof Datuk Dr Ewe Hong Tat, representatives from UTAR Hospital, and UTAR staff and students paid their last respects to Dr Ling.
