More than 1,300 jobs up for grabs at Southern University College fair

JOHOR BARU: More than 1,300 job opportunities are up for grabs at a three-day job fair at Southern University College here, says state executive councillor Aznan Tamin.

The Johor Education and Information Committee chairman said the job fair, held from Friday (April 3) until Sunday (April 5), is part of the state government’s efforts to connect job seekers with employers.

“Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) is organising such job fairs every month as part of an ongoing effort to expand employment opportunities in the state.

"This time, it brings together 43 employers from across sectors, ranging from manufacturing to hospitality and retail,” he said at a press conference after launching the fair on Friday (April 3).

Aznan said a majority of the vacancies offer salaries of more than RM3,000.

“A total of 296 job titles are available here, covering roles from entry-level to professional positions. Of the vacancies, 475 positions offer salaries below RM3,000, while 895 exceed RM3,000,” Aznan said, adding that nearly 96% of the jobs are based in Johor.

Aznan also encouraged young people to attend such fairs to secure employment and benefit from training and career development programmes.
