Cops probing viral incident of teenager allegedly slapped at LRT station food outlet

PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a viral incident involving a teenage boy who was allegedly slapped by a man at an LRT station here on Tuesday (March 24).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said the incident occurred at about 1.30pm, when the 13-year-old victim was at a food outlet within the station.

“The suspect, believed to be a man in his 40s, allegedly slapped the victim once on the face after accusing him of cutting the queue,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 25).

However, initial findings indicate that the victim had arrived earlier and was the only customer at the counter at the time of the incident.

ACP Sazalee said the victim, a Form One student, had gone to the location alone while his relative waited in a nearby vehicle.

“The victim sustained injuries to the nose and sought treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, where he was diagnosed with a soft tissue nasal injury,” he added.

Police have classified the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
