PUTRAJAYA: Three men were arrested and six birds, believed to be protected wildlife worth an estimated RM33,000, were seized during the Southern Zone Operasi Bersepadu Khazanah in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor on Wednesday (Aug 12).
The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) Peninsular Malaysia said the joint operation with the Royal Malaysia Police, involving personnel from the Central Brigade General Operations Force, uncovered three separate cases of suspected wildlife crime.
"A total of six birds suspected to be wildlife were seized, comprising five Sun Conures and one Stripe-throated Bulbul, along with four cages.
"An Indonesian travel document and a mobile phone were also seized to assist in the investigation," it said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 13).
Perhilitan said the three suspects comprised two local men and an Indonesian national.
All three suspects, together with the seized items, were taken to Perhilitan headquarters for further action.- Bernama
