KUANTAN: A fuel tanker carrying 32,000 litres of diesel and petrol crashed into a car at KM9 Jalan Temerloh-Triang on Friday (Aug 14), causing both vehicles to burst into flames, with two occupants of the car feared burnt.
Temerloh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Nasyim Bahron said police received information from the public on the incident at about 4.30pm.
"Initial investigations found that the tanker, travelling from Seremban, Negri Sembilan to Temerloh, was believed to have lost control and entered the opposite lane before crashing into the car.
"The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire. However, the 37-year-old tanker driver managed to escape and suffered only minor injuries,” he said when contacted.
ACP Nasyim said the identities and number of victims in the car had yet to be confirmed due to the condition of the wreckage, while firefighting operations took time as the incident involved fuel.
He said the tanker driver would be detained to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.- Bernama
