IPOH: Police arrested two men believed to have stolen about RM50,000 worth of electric cables at a school in Chenderong Balai in Hilir Perak.
Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Chua Kok Lian said the two individuals were arrested on Friday (Aug 14) at about 3.30am.
ACP Chua said a representative of the school lodged a report on Wednesday (Aug 12).
"Electric cables at one of the school blocks have been cut and stolen.
"During the arrests, the police also seized several items, believed to be related to the case, including cable cutting equipment, cables and a car," he said in a statement on Friday.
ACP Chua said an order has been granted by the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court to remand both suspects until Aug 17 to complete the investigation.
"The public, including schools and premises owners, are advised to improve their security features to prevent being targeted by thieves," he said.
"The police also welcome information about criminal activities for immediate and stern actions," he said, adding that cooperation from the public is important in helping police prevent and combat crime.
