KOTA KINABALU: Fifteen Sabah Bersatu state youth committee members have quit over the national party's selective disciplinary action against its leaders.
Sabah Bersatu Armada chief Mohd Hisyam Hazaril Mohd Azman said that together with the division's youth chiefs, members of the State and Central Armada Committees have all resigned from every position held at every level in the youth wing.
The members of the Sabah Bersatu Armada committee, led by Hisyam, included youth division chiefs from Tuaran, Sepanggar, Pensiangan, Keningau, Papar, Tawau, Putatan, and Beluran.
Hisyam, who is also the Beaufort Armada Chief, said the resignations, effective immediately, align with their decision to leave Bersatu, including the dissolution of the state Armada committee.
“This decision was made after seriously considering the current developments affecting the party, which is now facing worsening internal turmoil that has been openly displayed to the public.
“We are deeply disappointed to see how internal conflicts have dragged on, with open attacks by leaders, statements on social media, and prolonged disputes that have tarnished the party’s image and eroded public confidence in the struggle it once carried,” he said in a statement.

He said they were concerned with the approach of dismissals and disciplinary actions that appeared inconsistent and selective, which had become the method of handling differing views within the party.
“We are firm not to support such a political culture, as it only divides the party and weakens the spirit of struggle among members.
“As youth wing leaders in Sabah, we hold to the principle that Armada should be a platform to unite the strength of young people and strengthen the party.
“However, under current circumstances, that role has become increasingly difficult to fulfil as the party remains trapped in endless internal conflict,” he said, adding that the youths reject divisive politics, open attacks, and the culture of dismissals that have increasingly become the norm in the party.
At least two Bersatu divisions - Tawau and Kudat- have also "dissolved" with their leaders resigning from the party in recent weeks.
