Ramanan to raise issue of 'provocateurs' at March 11 Cabinet meeting

SUNGAI BULOH: The issue of several alleged provocateurs inciting racial tensions will be raised at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (March 11), says Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.

"It will be discussed then, and I will personally bring it up," he said briefly at a press conference on Tuesday (March 10).

Earlier, he attended a memorandum of understanding ceremony involving the Ex-Serviceman Affairs Corporation (Perhebat), Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV) and the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO).

The Sungai Buloh MP and PKR vice-president said he was also informed that several arrests were made.

"Give the police time to investigate and for the Attorney General’s Chambers to take the appropriate action," he said.

On Monday (March 9), Ramanan was reported to have revealed the existence of individuals allegedly acting as provocateurs to incite racial tension in the country.

He was quoted as saying that such irresponsible acts could not be allowed to continue as they appeared to exploit the fate and future of more than 33 million Malaysians for certain agendas.

Ramanan said certain individuals were believed to have been hired as agents of provocation to trigger racial conflict, adding that the authorities needed to identify those financing such activities.
