KUALA LUMPUR: Businessman Albert Tei and several other individuals lodged a police report on Friday (March 6) over allegations that figures within PKR, including Nurul Izzah Anwar, had engaged a foreign consulting firm to lobby the United States to exert pressure on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Tei, who arrived with social media influencer Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, also known as "Ratu Naga", activist M. Mythreyar and Alif Abdullah representing Bersatu wing Armada, went to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at about 9.40am to file the report.
According to the police report sighted by The Star, Tei cited a report by a news portal which alleged the existence of email communications between PKR leaders and parties in the US.
The article claimed that several leaders of the party had communicated with individuals in the US.
"The article states that it has evidence in the form of emails between PKR leaders and parties in the United States," according to an excerpt from the police report.
"Their purpose included seeking assistance from the White House and members of the United States Congress to exert pressure on the Malaysian government at the time."
In his report, Tei also urged the authorities to investigate the matter under Section 124B of the Penal Code, which relates to activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy, as well as provisions under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
He also called for the investigation to be conducted transparently and without bias, as the matter allegedly involves the security and sovereignty of the country.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the status of the investigation, while those named in the allegations have yet to issue any public response.
