Two separate crashes leave eight hurt in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Eight people were injured in two separate accidents in Sabah within the past 24 hours.

The first incident involved a family of five, including two adults and three children whose ages are four, seven and 10.

They sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a 15m-deep ravine along Kg Pituru Laut in Kota Belud, at around 8pm on Tuesday.

Kota Belud fire station chief Elgie Bakuk said road users who saw the accident rushed to their aid while waiting for help to arrive.

In the second mishap, three people were hurt while another left unscathed following a collision near the Serusup junction at Jalan Tuaran in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Tuaran fire station chief Kurong Ak Beki said they received a distress call at around 3.25am.

He said three people in one car were hurt, while the 45-year-old driver from the other vehicle escaped without injuries.

The injured victims were taken to the hospital for further treatment, he said.
