Thunderstorms, heavy rain, expected in eight states until 9pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in eight states - Johor, Kedah, Pahang, Perak, Selangor, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak, until 9pm on Wednesday (Feb 3).

In Kedah, the affected districts are Yan, Pendang, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu. In Perak, the warning covers Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim.

The alert also involves Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu, as well as Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang.

In Selangor, the affected areas are Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang. In Johor, the warning applies to Segamat, Batu Pahat, Pontian and Johor Baru.

In Sarawak, the areas involved are Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the warning covers the Interior areas of Sipitang, Tenom, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan; the West Coast areas (Papar, Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud), Tawau and Lahad Datu in the Tawau division, as well as Sandakan and Kudat (Kota Marudu).- Bernama
