Supremacy of Constitution, rule of law must be preserved and defended, say Sultan Ibrahim

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on Friday (Jan 9) stressed that the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law must always be preserved and defended.

"The people have the right to feel disappointed when the authorities are found to be abusing their positions and being corrupt.

"Safeguarding these two principles of the Rukun Negara is crucial, as they directly affect public trust in the integrity of the country's governing and administrative institutions," said His Majesty in a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page.

The statement came after Sultan Ibrahim granted an audience to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Datuk Sri Azalina Othman Said, and was briefed on current legal issues, as well as efforts to strengthen governance and advance institutional reforms to combat corruption. - Bernama
