A TOTAL of 30 pupils from SJK(T) Ladang Chemor were celebrated for their achievements at an international innovation competition, Malaysia Nanban reported.

School headmaster Nalina Ramakrishnan said the pupils won awards for six innovations.

She said the pupils were recognised at a special awards ceremony held at the school, attended by fellow pupils, teachers and community members.

She added that the rural school has a total of 78 pupils, mostly from B40 families.

Such success stories should inspire confidence in Tamil schools among the Indian community, local businessman S. Vasu said after giving out the special awards to the students.

> A woman in India was arrested for selling her two-month-old son for money to buy alcohol, Makkal Osai reported.

After the woman’s husband discovered the incident and lodged a police report, the mother, the two brokers and the buyer were arrested.
