Amanita working to boost community policing in Seri Alam PPR

KUALA LUMPUR: The Seri Alam PPR Phase Two flats have been selected as the latest “pitstop” by the police force’s Women’s Volunteer Squad (Amanita).

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said this was among the latest public housing projects to be adopted by Amanita to strengthen the community policing concept.

“This programme will be ongoing. This PPR was chosen because residents are active in their partnerships with the police.

“Its location is also strategic, as it is situated right in the centre of the city. The feedback has been very positive,” Comm Fadil said at the event yesterday.

An Amanita cabin has been set up in the area to serve as a police pitstop aimed at building trust and understanding between the police and the public.

“There are no criteria to join us; we welcome all,” he said.

On investigations into the discovery of a newborn baby’s body in Bukit Jalil, Comm Fadil said no suspects have been identified.

“As of now, we are still compiling all information from the public. The individual involved has yet to be identified, and we need the public’s help.

“The case is still under investigation,” he said.

When asked about the investigation into a fire at a condominium in Mont Kiara that left one person dead, he said no elements of foul play have been found.

“As of now, no signs of foul play or criminal elements have been detected.

“The level of safety of the building is also still under investigation, and we will work with the Fire and Rescue Department on this,” he said.

Regarding the ongoing investigation into the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsi, he said police are still awaiting the full toxicology report.

“This process takes a few months to complete. The bail period for rapper Wee Meng Chee (Namewee) is also still ongoing,” he said.

Investigations revealed that Namewee was the last person seen with the 31-year-old victim in a hotel room here at about 1.40pm on Oct 22.

He was later arrested for the alleged possession and use of drugs but was released after pleading not guilty to drug-related charges at the Jalan Duta Court on Oct 24.
