Beware of fake news site impersonating The Star

PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group Berhad, which publishes The Star print products and online portal, refers to a site misusing The Star's brand identity.

It has come to the group's attention that a fake news article supposedly about the late media and timber tycoon Tiong Hiew King on the site titled "Tiong Hiew King’s Final Surprise: Why the Malaysian Business Icon Left His Heirs an Investment Platform Instead of Billions" and “How Tiong Hiew King, Founder and Chairman of Rimbunan Hijau Group, Shocked His Family with an Unconventional Will”, misuses The Star's logo.

The group wishes to clarify that the article is not affiliated with The Star in any way.

The aforementioned article, as well as similar iterations and others like it, is not run by The Star.

Please do not interact with these articles, social media pages or suspicious ads seen on social media.

The Star – which Reuters named one of the most trusted sources of news in Malaysia – publishes on its official website thestar.com.my.
