Over 140,000 tourists landed in Melaka via luxury cruise ships

MELAKA: A total of 143,218 tourists landed in Melaka via luxury cruise ships from November 2024 to October 2025, says state Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Exco Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman.

He said the tourists arrived on six luxury cruise ships that stopped in Melaka.

"Based on records received by the Tourism Promotion Division of the Melaka Chief Minister's Department, a total of 249,829 tourists have boarded luxury cruise ships to Melaka.

"However, only 143,218 tourists have landed at the Melaka Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex," he said at the Melaka State Legislative Assembly session at the Seri Negeri Complex here on Monday (Dec 8).

He was answering a question from Low Chee Leong (PH-Kota Laksamana) regarding the number of luxury cruise ship tourist landings in Melaka each month since 2024.

Regarding the construction of the Cruise Terminal on Pulau Melaka, Abdul Razak stated that development work has begun, and progress was at approximately 5%.

"To date, a total of 60 piles have been installed, marking the start of construction work on the terminal's basic structure.

"The state government insists that it will not tolerate any company that fails to fulfil its responsibilities and all violations will be subject to appropriate action without compromise," he said. – Bernama
